It all started with a small wood-fired oven in the back garden. Pizzas so much nicer than anything in the shops or the chains - much more like those we remembered from our visits to Naples. This sowed the seeds of the passion, and after honing Jake's skills at pizza parties and family gatherings, researching and perfecting, the decision was made in 2018 to start the business. If our friends liked them so much, why not share?
Jake soon realised that to make a truly great pizza every detail has to be perfect, from choosing only the best ingredients, to proving the dough to the amount and application of tomato sauce. That philosophy has remained with us throughout - The search for pizza perfection! While we don't think we're there yet, we believe that we are getting closer and closer.
At first we traded as a hobby business from a gazebo, trading at festivals and events. It was great fun, and acted as a fantastic training ground to develop our skills. We loved it so much, we decided that we would give up our other jobs, and turn our full attention to the passion for pizzas.
Then along came COVID. No more festivals and events. No more business? No way!
Although we had always planned on a mobile unit, COVID gave birth to Giovanni, our fantastic bespoke pizza van conversion completed by specialist firm Amobox Ltd, including their awesome Amodio oven with a genuine biscotto cooking floor - the ultimate in pizza vans, the ultimate in mobile pizza ovens.
We think that both the van and oven are truly amazing. We hope you agree that they help us to deliver truly amazing pizzas to the people of Devon.
